We are pleased to announce that MDE has been awarded the electrical services contract for the new school development in Clondalkin, Dublin. In partnership with Cunningham Contracts Ltd., we will serve as the specialist electrical contractor for the Gaelscoil na Camóige, Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin, and Coláiste Chillian project.

Project Overview

Known as the Clondalkin School Development Project, this comprehensive initiative involves the construction of two new 16-classroom primary schools, Gaelscoil na Camóige and Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin. The project will also see the addition of a modern physical education (PE) hall for Coláiste Chillian enhancing the secondary school’s facilities and providing a valuable community resource for local sports and events.

The project not only involves new buildings but also significant site developments, including two new access routes, upgraded road infrastructure, and a streamlined one-way traffic system for safer and easier drop-off and collection. This design prioritises the safety and convenience of students, families, and faculty alike, aiming to minimise congestion and reduce risks associated with vehicle and pedestrians.

While part of the site is currently occupied by Coláiste Chillian secondary school, which will remain operational during construction, Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin’s current facilities will be moved into the new buildings upon project completion, allowing for more dedicated learning spaces across the campus.

MDE’s Role and Responsibilities

As the specialist electrical contractor, MDE will be responsible for designing and installing the electrical systems across the new buildings and PE hall, ensuring each facility is equipped with high quality, reliable electrical solutions for safe and efficient operations. Our scope of work includes:

• Complete electrical installations across two 16-classroom primary schools and a PE hall
• Integration of electrical systems for classrooms, administrative offices, and special-use spaces
• Exterior lighting and security systems for safe access and navigation
• Power solutions to support the new traffic and road access systems on the site

Our team is excited to bring our expertise to this project, and we anticipate mobilising on-site by May 2025, as per the project’s current timeline.
